After the one end is dry, I glue it in place along the curve ONLY, and let the rest dangle. This piece is already cut to length, but the other end also needs to be soaked for the curve at the other end. I have to suspend the canoe above the container of ammonia water with my ruler, and weigh down the other end of the false keel, so it's submerged. Once it's pliable, I carefully wrap it around the other end, making sure it's just a bit too long for the clamp to hold it in place. I let it dry completely before removing the clamps.
