Now it's time for the floor.  I cut five pieces of 1/16" x 1/8" cherry strips to 8 3/4" long, and use a 1/32" spacer in between the boards to keep them separate.  Then I tape them temporarily together on one side, and round off the edges with sandpaper.  I center this whole floor (while taped) in the center of the canoe, and glue it well in place, then take off the tape.
